Education & Career Guidance (ECG)
The Education and Career Guidance (ECG) programme at CHIJ Katong Convent focuses on providing students with exposure and experiential learning opportunities to bridge their secondary school journey with post-secondary education and the world of work.
Over the course of the two-year lower secondary and two-year upper secondary education, students will receive bite-sized ECG information designed to progressively guide them in exploring various pathways and preparing them to make well-informed decisions regarding their futures.
The ECG programmes offered include:
-
ECG topics integrated into Character and Citizenship Education lessons;
-
Visits to selected post-secondary institutions, such as polytechnics and Institute of Technical Education (ITE);
-
Talks by representatives from institutes of higher learning;
-
An Education Fair and Career Seminar for the graduating cohort in Semester 1;
-
Applied Learning Modules at Polytechnics (ApLM@Poly);
-
Applied Learning Modules at ITE (ApLM@ITE);
-
Training sessions on interview techniques and portfolio writing;
-
Preparation support for Early Admissions Exercise (EAE) and Direct School Admission (DSA).
Some activities are organised for entire cohorts, while others are offered on a voluntary basis, depending on students’ interests. Students will be informed of the available opportunities in advance.
Students who wish to explore their post-secondary pathways further, or who seek guidance regarding their career interests, strengths, and passions, are encouraged to arrange a consultation with the school’s MOE-ECG Counsellor, Ms Sherry Long, by contacting her at long_ai_sin@schools.gov.sg or scanning this QR code:
